APTQI Donates $25,000 to Project HOPE to Support Hurricane Relief Efforts
Washington, D.C. – The Alliance for Physical Therapy Quality and Innovation (APTQI) today announced that it donated $25,000 to Project HOPE, a leading global health and humanitarian organization that works with local health workers and health systems to provide urgent relief and transformative solutions that drive lasting impact. The donation will go toward Project HOPE’s efforts delivering critical aid and relief supplies to the North Carolina and Florida communities impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
“Project HOPE is doing incredible, much-needed work helping the devastated communities in both North Carolina and Florida,” said Nikesh Patel, PT, Executive Director of APTQI. “APTQI is happy and humbled to be part of the relief efforts, particularly helping our affected member clinics and the patients they serve.”
APTQI member CORA Physical Therapy has 121 clinics in Florida and 16 clinics in North Carolina, some of which have unfortunately suffered severe damage from the storms. CORA President and Chief Operating Officer Javier Othon, PT, said, “CORA is extremely grateful for the work that Project HOPE is doing to help our communities rebound from the disaster caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. We strive to make the lives of patients across impacted communities better, and we are proud to support local individuals, families, and businesses to rebuild and thrive again.”
Project HOPE is currently on the ground in the Tampa Bay and Sarasota region, coordinating with local and state officials to provide critical medicine and humanitarian relief supplies to affected areas while assessing long-term impacts and looking for opportunities to strengthen the health system. The response team is also in Western North Carolina, distributing essential supplies to health facilities and shelters, including hygiene supplies, water, over-the-counter medicines, mental health needs, and surge staffing support.
“Project HOPE is thankful for APTQI’s generous donation and support of the communities and health care workers impacted by the recent hurricanes,” said Melissa Koester, Director of Corporate & Foundation Partnerships at Project HOPE. “Our mission is to support local health care workers and provide them with the resources they need to save lives in their communities. Charitable contributions like this are immeasurably important to help support our work.”
